SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases. This role requires a strong understanding of database management, security, and disaster recovery, as well as the ability to collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure data integrity and availability.

Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL programming.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS).
- Familiarity with database design, data modeling, and normalization.
- Understanding of Windows Server environments and networking basics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure SQL Server and related components.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and statistics updates.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries and database performance.
- Troubleshoot database issues and implement solutions.
- Develop, implement, and regularly test backup and recovery procedures.
- Ensure data recovery and disaster recovery plans are in place and effective.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and company policies
- Collaborate with developers to optimize database designs and queries.
- Support the development and deployment of database changes and upgrades.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Generate and analyze performance and usage reports.
- Provide support to application development teams and other stakeholders.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Job Location
Experience
- Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
- Experience with SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2017/2019.
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Office/Remote (home) environment with occasional on-call responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- May require occasional travel to other company sites
